Reefs end for all kinds of reasons.
A move across the country. A new baby. A job that ate the hours the reef used to get. A tank that came with the house and was never really yours. Or just realizing, honestly, that you’re done.
None of those need a justification. What matters now is what happens to the animals.
What we may be able to do
Take in the livestock
When we have the space and the livestock is a good fit, we may be able to take fish, coral, and invertebrates in directly.
Help rehome it
Sometimes the best outcome is placing animals with another reef that suits them. We can help make that happen responsibly, so each animal goes somewhere it can actually thrive.
In some cases, purchase it
Occasionally, depending on the livestock and our needs at the time, we may offer to buy some or all of it. That’s never guaranteed, and it isn’t the point of this page.
Which of these makes sense depends on what the livestock is, its condition, and what we have room for at the time. We’ll be straight with you about what we can take and what we can’t.
What we don’t do: move aquariums.
We don’t move, relocate, or reinstall aquariums. That includes moves across town.
When it’s appropriate, we can remove the livestock itself, safely catching, bagging, and transporting fish, coral, and invertebrates. The tank, stand, plumbing, and cabinetry aren’t part of it.
We remove livestock. We don’t move aquariums. If you’re looking for someone to move your tank, we’re not the right call.
How rehoming works
- Tell us what you have. A rough livestock list, the size of the system, and a few photos. You don’t need scientific names. “Two clownfish and a bunch of green coral” is a perfectly good start.
- We tell you honestly what we can do. Take in, help rehome, occasionally purchase, or tell you plainly that we can’t help this time.
- We plan the handoff. Timing, and how the animals get to their next home safely. When it’s appropriate, we’ll catch, bag, and transport the livestock ourselves.
- The animals go somewhere good. That’s the whole goal.
The earlier you call, the better it goes.
The best time to reach out is before the moving truck is booked. Rehoming goes better with a little time: time to find the right place for each animal and time to avoid rushed decisions.

Why this matters to us
The easiest thing to do with a reef you can’t keep is often the worst thing for what’s living in it. Fish get flushed. Coral goes out with the rock. The cleanup crew goes down the drain with the water. Often it happens because nobody knew there was another option, or because the move was on Saturday.
We’re a reef company. Caring about what happens to reef animals is part of the job, even when there’s no ongoing service in it.

Sometimes “I can’t keep my reef” really means “I can’t keep up with my reef.” If you’d rather keep it and just need help, that’s a different conversation.
Questions about reef rehoming
Will you buy my fish and coral?
Sometimes, but not usually, and never guaranteed. Our first priority is placing animals well. If getting the most money for your livestock is the main goal, selling through a local reef club or hobbyist marketplace may be a better fit.
Do you move aquariums?
No. We don’t move, relocate, or reinstall aquariums of any size.
What about the tank and equipment?
Rehoming is about the livestock. We don’t move aquariums or take down systems as a moving service. If there’s equipment that could be useful as part of a rehoming situation, we’ll talk about it case by case.
Can you take everything?
Not always. It depends on the species, their condition, and what we have room for at the time. If we can’t take something, we’ll tell you, and we’ll tell you why.
The reef has been neglected. Will you still look at it?
Yes. Neglected reefs are often where the animals need help most. Some livestock may be in rough shape, and we’ll give you an honest read on what can be placed.
I don’t know what’s in my tank. Is that a problem?
No. Photos are enough to start. We’ll identify what’s there.
